Hi! Congratulations on your date. You'll do great! I'm three weeks post-op, and had the same concerns. While in the hospital they gave me a pureed meal before I left for home, and it had a wonderful tasting drink, tasted like egg custard to me. Turned out it was a vanilla protein drink. I went out and got a few different kinds, and I found some great ones!! Nectar Ice tea- Great to put into a water bottle Nectar Cherry - just yummy with ice or blended with ice Dessert Cinnamon bun - breakfast with milk and warmed in the microwave....mmm... Any Whey- in anything!! Tasteless! Metabolic Whey Vanilla - blended with lots of ice, a vanilla shake, add any fruit or a little cocoa powder http://www.directsupplement.com/ is the site, their prices are very discounted! Hope that helps... Vanessa [email protected]

Hey Kim, Congrats on your surgery!!!!!! The vitamins I used were the centrum multi chewable vitamin two a day, Slow fe Iron. The pills are so small you can just swallow them. Tropical oasis liquid calcium I get from vitalady.com I take a chewable vitamin C, I use a sublingual B12 I get at walmart. I would also recommend taking biotin twice a day for the hair loss. As for protein supplements I like the any whey protein I get from bariatriceating.com. I like it because it's flavorless and can be added to anything hot or cold. Good luck and take care. If you need anything else let me know. Jeannie

Congrats on your surgery! Most doctors will give you a list of supplements they want you to have. It's always best to go with what your doctor says. He has had experience with other patients and knows what works. It is part of surgery, a detailed diet along with the proper supplements. Good luck!

It still amazes me that some doctors are not educating their patients on nutrition for after surgery. after 2+ years out and many yukky protien drinks later, i Love Champion Pure whey stack chocolate,Mix with Water. no whey protein aftertaste and it mixes really good, no big clumps. Tastes like ovaltein. I too get mine from vitalady.com. best prices and you can order samples to try.

Hi Kim, According to Obesity Help, the supplements that you need are: AM- 2 (25mg) iron, Vitamin C (1000mg); Mid-day - Calcium Citrate (500MG) w/ Vitamin D & Magnesium (250mg); Evening - Calcium Citrate (500MG) w/ Vitamin D and Magnewium (250mg) 1 Multi-vitamin; Zinc (50mg); vitamin A & D (10,000 IU of A & 400 IU Vitamin D3). Bedtime: Calcium Citrate (500MG) w/ Vitamin D & Magnesium (250mg); 1 multi vitamin and of course 1 Sublingual B12 Daily or a monthly B-12 injections. I know that seems like allot, but you can't eat enough to get all your vitamins and you have some malabsorbsion. The best option is to follow your Doctors suggestions. - Judy

Congratulations on your date! I take 2 Flintstones chewable vitamins a day-you can get a large bottle at Sam's Club. I also take Ferrous Sulfate (Iron pills) you can get them at any drug store they are small enough to swallow-Bariatric Advantage Sublingual B-12 very good tasting and Activecal calcium chews you can get at GNC Stores If you get their card and go the first of the month you can get a real good deal, or Viactive chews at Sam's club. I think GNC taste a little better. I have only tried the chocolate, very good. I feel like I can still have my treat of chocolate each day when actually it's something good for me. GNC also has Isopure protien drinks. They taste to me like gatorade, they are clear not a milky base. They leave a bit of a chalkey aftertaste but all protien drinks I've tried does these are not that bad to me. 1-20 oz bottle has 40 grams of protien-no sugar and no carbs. As far as the Any Whey I would see if you could get a sample to try first. I bought a large canister because I was told there is no taste, trust me I could taste it. I only gave it a few days, but I just couldn't stomache it. Don't stock up on a lot of protien drinks, your taste buds do change after surgery. Before surgery I could do the slim fast carb? sugar free, after surgery I can't stand the taste.

I am having surgery on the 13th. I was told to drink 2 protien drinks a day and a frozen lean cusine type dinner, and do this for 10-14 days before surgery to shrink your liver. the vitamins I will be taking are optisource, they are for bariatric patients. I hope this helps. Tanya

You can order protein samples and try several that way. Your guide for protein would be roughly 30g protein in less than 190 cal with less than 5g sugar, roughly. Not collagen, at least as your sole source. I can give you a pre-op and post op plan if you email me privately. It would work for you until you get the plan from your doc, at the very least.
