Question:
I have calcific tendinitis in my right foot and wrist and take -

2 tablets daily of Glucosamine HC1 1500mg/Chondroitin Sulfate 100mg. If anyone else was taking this supplement before RNY, did you quit taking it because it was not needed any longer or did you have to keep taking it but in liquid form? (I believe I have seen it in liquid form.) I have an appointment with Dr. Watson Roye Jr. on August 8th and as soon as he submits all my 4 Specialists test results to Aetna, my surgery date can be scheduled, hopefully around August 22nd...    — Gerry Smith (posted on July 19, 2008)

Gerry, I don't have an answer to your question, but I am glad you will finally meet the Good Doctor, you can tell him "Hi" for me. I just got a letter from his office telling me that he had turned by case over to his associate. I took arthritis medicine but I have not had to take any and with my weight loss, I hope I don't have to resume. As of yesterday, I go into my PCP's office just to weigh and I have lost 40 pounds and I feel so much better and I know you will do fine. Keep in touch. Diane

First off, your dosage is way off: 1500 of Condroitin to 1000 of GS. 2nd, this will do nothing for calcification of anything. It will help with cartilage loss and general soft tissue damage. Get some orthotics. For your wrist, see Dr. Mitch Mally in Davenport Iowa if he's still in practice. He's the best on the planet.

i was taking this medicine also for my knee but after i had this surgery and lost the extra pounds i have not had to take any of this medicine... right after surgery i asked Dr. Chung if i was allowed to take it and he said i could but i wanted to see if i would be alright without it and have not taken any in 6 months now... so getting the extra weight off was the answer for me... Thank God... good luck
