Question:
Biotin & Zinc,,,how many mg. of each to take,,,BAD hair loss at 5 months!

This came up at my support mtg Monday night and one of the docs said that
if you are gonna lose hair, you will lose it regardless and to save our
money on the vitamins and etc. The good news is it does come back in.

Donna: DITTO...don't waste your money. If you're gonna lose, you're gonna
lose. I lost hair from month 2 until month 6...It's slowing down
drastically now and I'm getting new fuzzies (baby hair) back. I did
everything right. Lotsa protein, lotsa water, all my vitamins...you name
it...but I still lost it. Try a new cut, a wide-tooth comb (less pulling)
and a new style. It WILL start to grow again...I promise.

Well, I know every surgeon has a different outlook on this... but here is
what my surgeon suggests- Biotin 200 micrograms and Zinc 50mg... good
luck!!

Sorry to disappoint you, but I agree with the others who say you will lose
what you will lose and nothing will stop it. Take heart, though, no one
goes bald and it does taper off and stop after about 3 months. What I did?
Went to my hairdresser and got a short cute doo (shorter than normal) that
was so cute that after numerous compliments, I kept it!!

I was at my dermatologist today and he suggested 300 mcg of biotin.
However, I am not too hopeful since the subject has been brought up at our
support group meetings many times and the concensus is that whatever will
be, will be. I'm not gonna bother. I'll wait it out.

I am now 4 mo. out and a few days. I last mo. stated to have hair loss. I
doubled up on my vitamins & protein and it has almost stopped. I
contacted my Dr. and was told to take Zinc, Biotin, and Silica. I am
getting Silica 500mg & Zinc 100 mg from
http://www.puritan.com/index.asp?sc=382 (the cheapest I found) and the
Biotin form GNC 2500MCG. I asked my Dr. all was ok. I also use Nioxin
shampoo 3 pack system (have LOTS of NEW hair growth) have been using since
beginning of surgery. The reason I have done all this is because I already
since BEFROE surgery had thinning hair and I was and still am paranoid. I
am still waiting to take all the 3 product Zinc & Silica ( still on the
way being shipped to me). What has helped already is I added 2 Flintstones
complete what my prescribed multi vitamin and the calcium with D Hope this
info helps.
