Question:
Would like to hear from anyone who had WLS in Horizon NJ Care

I want to have the Gastric Sleeve done but I was told in the rumour mill it may not be paid for as it is considered experimental still. Has anyone with Horizon NJ care (form of Medicaid) had this particular surgery. I would really like to hear from you.    — chell1957 (posted on August 15, 2008)

Sorry, I am having lap band surgery and I had to self pay because my bmi wasnt high enough. My surgery date is Aug 26th so I will hopefully be able to answer some after surgery questions for you soon anyway

I also have the same insurance, and they denied me because they want to see six consecutive months of weight loss program. I wasn't suprised though I expected this. What I would do is have at least six months of wl program and then take it form they. When I called them to clatify thing , they were really receptive and helpful. I have Horizon BCBS NJ POS through my work and they approved my RNY Gastric Bypass on the first submission. Maybe they'd pay for Band or RNY GB? Good Luck!
