Question:
Has anyone had any dealing with Intracorp??

I received an approval letter from Cigna PPO, I also received a denial letter from Intracorp stating that I was denied. I spoke with Cigna and they acted as if they did not have a clue what Intracorp was talking about. What should I do???? Any suggestions    — vmckel3783 (posted on May 17, 2002)

Intracorp is the medical review team that actually receives the request from your doctor. If you call Cigna PPO they will not have any information for you because it is behind the scenes, so to speak. I had the same thing happen to me. When you do call Cigna PPO tell them that it is in medical review with Intracorp then they will either connect you or give you a different number. I just got approved by Intracorp for Cigna PPO. If the Cigna letter is dated after the Intracorp letter then I would not worry as much but if the Intracorp letter is after the Cigna letter I would be concerned. Typically, Intracorp does the medical review prior to Cigna receiving it. I hope that helps, some.

I have Cigna too and the same problem. In their guidelines, they say nothing about a psych or nutritional eval, so I didn't have those done. About a month after my appointment with the surgeon, I got a denial letter from Intracorp, who I had never even heard of! I didn't know there was such a thing as a pre-certification company. Anyway, they're requiring me to have a psych and nutritional eval both. I already have a psych eval scheduled and I'm stil working on the nutritional eval. I just wish someone had told me about Intracorp at the surgeon's office (surely they've had people with Cigna PPO before and knew that I would need these evaluations) but no one told me. I makes me mad because I really thought I had everything covered. But now it's gonna throw my surgery date back at least a month. I don't guess it really matters now because I only have about half of what I need saved, but I just wanted to sit back and relax until I had the money and not have to sweat all this stuff. On the plus side (no pun intended), the insurance chick at the surgeon's office said Cigna has already approved me for the surgery, which really doesn't make any sense to me, but I guess that's good. Now hopefully all I have to worry about is Intracorp. "vexxtra"

The surgeon's office I'm dealing with know that Cigna requires the psych eval and nutrition consult so they've prepared me for paying out of pocket for these. I only began with Cigna on 1/03 so I hope getting approved won't be a problem
