Question:
Has anyone been to Hurley?

Hey there!! Has anyone been to Hurley Medical Center in Flint, MI? If so how is the staff and Docs there? I'm currently waiting for my pre-approval for my surgey and that is the only place I can find to take Medicaid so far...If anyone know of anywhere else or ANYTHING that will help me in this journey, it will be much appreciated...GOD BLESS!!    — Ms. Slimmie (posted on July 18, 2002)

Hello.....I personally didn't go to Hurley but have a friend going there. From what I hear the Dr's are great and haven't heard any negative things about Hurley, other than their waiting list is awful. I know people that have been approved for months now that can't get a surgery date because of lack of OR time. They hold support meetings every other Monday that I go to. The meetings are wonderful. I have learned so many interesting things from them and the people are so kind. The next meeting is on July 29th at 5:30pm, however I would suggest getting there early since it does fill up quickly. These support meetings are so important for you to attend too. They keep you in touch with so many others that can relate to you and can help you along in your process. Good Luck on your new journey!!!!

Hi. I am also in the pre-approval stage. I saw Dr. Dabideen in June and just had my psych eval last week. I chose Hurley because they would bill my insurance and BTC in Ypsilanti wouldn't (I'm about half way between both - - in Lansing). My husband and I were very comfortable with Dr. Dabideen and am hoping to get a surgery date soon! Good Luck with yours!!

I was told to use Hurley by my insurance company after I was approved for the RNY. Even though I was approved for surgery, Dr. Obeid wont even see me because on my psych eval the actual words "cleared for surgery" wasnt inlcuded. To me that is so petty and ignorant. Now I have to jump through even more hoops for a surgery I dont even want just because that is all the insurance company will pay for which is total BS. I guess Dr. Obeid doesnt mind turning away paients who are in extreme need of surgery. I guess it shows exactly where his heart is when it comes to his patients lives.
