I am 4 months post op and I really do think about food at all. I kinda hope that it does not get as strong so I do not feel like I am missing out on things. Food has changed for me. The food that I do crave is really healthy stuff, it is like my body knows that I need the good stuff.

I'm almost 10 months post-op and haven't felt hungry yet. I eat 3 meals a day and a couple of snacks if I needed to get my protein in and so far haven't had any problems craving things I shouldn't. Good luck with your weight loss. Debi

i am 4.5 yrs post op RNY, and can count on one hand the times i've been hungry. I still have to force myself to eat those 5 small half cup of food meals each day. not eating them is the same as cheating - to me anyway, because i need those meals to burn the fat- but have been at goal for over 3 yrs- just want to keep it that way. good luck with your journey Cindi 3.24.04 -230#

OK call me crazy I must me different than others- I am 7 months out and I DO get hungry. It's not quite as ravenous as before since I stop at 1/2cup.....and I am sure most of it is head hunger anyway- but it was head hunger before too. I remind myself this surgery was on my stomach not my head, and I have to work hard at it!

The TV dinners have ALOT of salt/sodium, which will cause water retention and carbs like mashed potatoes and breads and stuff will cause blood sugar to spike up then carsh down, causing the person to keep feeling hungry. Might wanna cut out the TV dinners and carbs and get back to basics; simple natural foods that haven't been overly processed, like try lean meats, fish, tuna, beans, eggs, cottage cheese, low-fat cheeses, low fat, low sugar yogurts, vegetables, and a few fruits.

I am 3 months out and DARN, I SURE HOPE NOT! If I never want food again, I will be happy. I don't even want hoagies and cheesecake and that is a miracle in itself. I hope I never get my appetite back, it is what did me in in the first place. I am encouraged by so many of the posters here that it might just be that way...hope it is the case with me. Lyn

I'm with the other HUNGRY person out there. I am almost 2 years out. I have not gained any weight, but I have to watch and know when to stop. I can eat some foods and not get full. Carbs are the culprit. I usually avoid them, and I am fine. I get hungry! HUNGER HAS RETURNED... the key for me is to know how to use this tool. If I eat hard protein, I will get full and stay full. Best of luck!

I'm 2 1/2 months out and my hunger came back in the first month. BUT it's not anywhere close to as intense as it was. Before RNY, when I'd have to have a fasting blood test, I knew I was in for a headache. Now, I'm hungry, but don't get headaches or shakey. My husband even stopped at a yardsale (with permission!) before my last fasting blood test. I know it's real hunger because I get these strange little noises in my stomach or new pouch. I hope it doesn't come back full blast.

YES! It sure did! But I was not hungry for 2 or more years...I am hungry just like before now. I eat every three hours and when I am busy and can't eat right away I get wicked hunger pangs...Probably worse than Pre op when I tried diets where I didn't eat at all...But the good thing is that a little food now goes a LONG LONG way...Learn to stop when you no longer feel the hunger and you stay full for hours! Too many people get the hunger back and begin to eat too much...learn you pouch and listen to it! ALWAYS!

I am almost 9 months out and I can say that for the first 3 months maybe, I didn't really get hungry. but, all of a sudden, WHAM the hunger did eventually return. but, no where near as bad as it was pre-op. I have definitely tried to learn the difference between "Head" hunger and "actual" tummy hunger though and I feel like most of the times, I have "head" hunger because I just WANT stuff. Good thing is, I can only eat a little bit. So, even if I inudlge now & then, my pouch still helps me control portions and I find that even then, I really only wanted a taste of something and then I'm totally satisfied. also, I am trying to get my carb cravings back in check. I noticed that makes a huge difference....if I stick with strict pouch rules and eat mostly leans meats and then some veggies, I rarely crave. but, sometimes I just don't care and I have the fries and potatos and I am hungry again sooner. Please don't take this as "slacking" is ok. It's my battle and I fight my head hunger problems every day...even after Lap RNY. Most of the time, I can stay in control....but, I am still weak and not perfect. But, I am down nearly 90lbs since 12/22/07 and my goal is to lose another 50 lbs by my surgiversary. So, I think I am doing pretty well and I know you will too!!
