Question:
Do Medicare and Medicaid pay based on BMI in tx?

I am disabled already at 40 and since 23 but need some advice on insurance coverage w/ Medicare and Medicaid.    — karilynne (posted on January 13, 2006)

I am not sure about Texas, but I do know that Illinois pays for it. All you can do is call your aid office and ask for a phone number where you can get answers to approval questions.

I don't know as far as where you are, but here in North Carolina, they do not preapporve the surgery. But if it is medically necessary, which it probably is you have the surgery and they pay for it. I had it done, I am on disability and medicare paid for every thing except my 20% and the exercise evaluation and the nutritionalist evaluation. I hope this helps you some.

Hi Karolyn, In Houston, UTMB has been advertising surgical weight loose surgery...and on the radio ads they say they accept Medicare Give them a Call Russ
