I live in Jacksonville, Florida and spent right at $18,500 out of pocket for LapBand in 2006, would do it again tomorrow. It is a drop in the bucket to save your life. Good luck, Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC

I asked my primary care physican the same question if my insurance will not cover the surgery. He told me hospitals, and doctors are also business people so make sure you deal with them. If the surgery cost 12,000.00 ask them for a discount becuause you are paying cash. When you pay cash they do not have to do any billing which save them money. Debbie

I had lapband surgery on 4-1 and went to Tj. Mexico. I cost me $8000 plus airfare. There is more info on my profile about the surgeon and hospital. It was an AWESOME experience and i would do it again in a heartbeat. Dr. Lopez Corvala is a fantastic Dr and works closely with Alergan. Good luck.

I went to Dr Rumbaut in Mexico. As a nurse & hospital surveyor be sure I checked it out well before going and while there. It was great. Price depends on if you use Dr. Rumbaut ($10,800) or his assistant;also a bariatric surgeon ($9,600 I think), this includes the hospital, anesthesia, pre-op medical exam (chest x-ray, labs, EKG...) hotel pre & post op, nutritional teaching, shuttle service to & from airport, Dr's appts and hosp. Only extra cost is travel to & from Monterey & if you have a companion, their meals (since you are on liquids w/protein drink)

I didn't have lapband. but my doc does them. I think they are right under $12,000 total for self pay. His name is Dr. John Mason at the Physician's Center in Bryan, TX. I was very, very happy with him. He is a very caring physician. PM me if you need more info.

I had lap band on May 13, 2008 with Dr. Steve Tersigni in Coos Bay, Oregon. He charges $12,500 for surgery. See Bay Bariatrics at http://www.baybariatrics.com. The same surgery done in Portland, Oregon was $24,000. I chose to drive the 5 hours from home to Coos Bay to save the money. He has submitted his paperwork to become designated as a "Center of Excellence".
