Question:
Just wanted to know if anyone has gotten their ins to pay for revision surgery?

I know the insurance pays if you have a problem but just wanted to know if anyone has gotten revision surgery paid for due to weight gain..    — mama1023 (posted on July 5, 2007)

That would be highly unlikely if there is no mechanical problem with your pouch. You have a tool, and if it isn't broken, it's up to you to use it!

OMG, I am in the same boat as you. I had an upper GI Tuesday and waiting to hear the results, if there is a problem with my RnY done two 1/2 years ago. I want a revision to a DS cuz I heard that is where the help is and a great weight loss. I have gained almost 40 pounds in the last 6 months.

yes, i have seen it several times now. First surgery may not have been done properly, old fashioned and not working, even if there is not a "problem", as such. Depends a lot on the doc and his point of view and how they write the letter, and, of course, the amount of regain.

Well I would imagine some do not, mine did, and just 6 months ago. I had a lapband and then a revision to RNY. My insurance paid since I did not loss with the band, but started to gain weight. I had no co-morbidities and really crappy insurance, but I just kept bugging them and they paid, I know a few other people that used the bug the insurance company approch, it does work sometimes, kill them with kindness and tears! Best of luck to you. BY the way, I had Amerihealth which is an HMO.
