Well, is the pain after you eat or drink? The lapband is actually near the middle of your chest. I am 7mos post op lapband and I get pressure in my chest when I am getting full or if I drink too much. Hope this helps. Karen in MA 336.8/304/239/170 Consult/Surgery/Now/Goal

In my experience, that pressure means you are eating or drinking too much or too quickly. Slow down, maybe avoid cold drinks altogether. Dawna

Congrats on your surgery first off. Secondly yes your pain will go away it's just that you probably have some swelling were they put the band and well as the days go by it will eventually go away. Try drinking something warm and see if that makes a difference. If not you can always have your doctor call in some liquid pain medicine for you. Good Luck!

It took, for me, about 2 weeks to disappear completely, but we all heal at a different pace. Drinking a bit of warm broth or herbal tea helped a lot too. Don't despair, just be patient!!!

Hello - yes I agree it could be that you are eating or drinking too fast, but I also had that pain and it could be your gallbladder. I had to have mine out about 3 months after my VBG surgery. I might get that checked if you don't think it is eating or drinking too fast causing it. Good luck.

I had alot of chest pain and everytime I spoke to the dr. office or went in they told me it was gas. Finally after a month I went to my pcm, it was pnuemonia. It took a month on antibiodics to clear it up. Same thing with stomach pain this last month. Ran a fever and was sick as a dog for six weeks. Everytime I spoke with the surgeon's office they said it was not my lap band. Turned out, I had diveticulitis. Moral of this story is don't just rely on your surgeon, see your primary care dr and listen to your body.
