Question:
Anyone experiencing severe stomach pain?

I am about 2 1/2 yrs post-op and have been experiencing severe pain since about 6 mo. post-op. It starts with a lot of belching, and then the pain starts in my back and radiates to my abdomin. The pain is so severe that I cant stand up straight, and the only relief I have found is to induce vomiting or at least a dry-heave. However, the pain generally doesnt stay gone for long during these episodes. I have had my gallbladder out, and have been to gastroentonologists, to no avail. Any suggestions?    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on March 1, 2006)

GO TO THE DOCTOR! You can't risk it. Get a second opinion if you have to. I'm 3yrs. post op and i'm getting the same pain. I have an appointment set.

Hello, I am sorry you're in pain. When I was suffernig like that it turned out to be an ulcer...I swear, one dose of prevpac killed the bacteria off, and I was good to go. Have you been scoped? That's the main way they can tell what it is. Best of luck to you...

What tests did the gastroenterologist do? Have you had an endoscopy? You don't need to live with pain, pester your doctors until they find what is wrong. Your pain could be many different things, but you are describing the pain I get from an ulcer.

Hi Roxanne, I usually dont read through all of the emails that I get, but I am so glad that I have read through yours. I too have had some major pains. I was taking Esgic-plus for migraines, that is when I first noticed the pain. It seems, for me, to start in the middle part of my breast(a little lower) and then feels like my inside muscles are cramping, like a fist. Then, it radiates to my back. My Dr did an upper and a lower GI, everything was fine. So they took me off of the migraine pills. Well needless to say, I still have them. I took my vitamins yesterday, about 3 hours after breakfast and that flared up my tummy too. I am now taking Prevacid. I dont know if it needs time to get in my system to work. But I am clueless too.

Please take a look at my profile. I am now looking at having my bypass broke down. They say that my body is in a type of rejection. It is not accepting the new arrangement inside. So end of May they are planning on scheduling a takedown surgery. It is scary, but after almost two years of pain I am ready for it! Bridget

I am sorry to hear about your pain but reading your story let me know that I am not alone. I have been having the same type of pain that starts in my back and radiates to my abdomen. I also can not stand or eat during the episodes. Nothing takes the pain away, not even morphine. My pain lasts for 2-3 days various times per month. I have had several tests run and was even in the hospital for 5 days due to my liver enzymes being high in addition to the constant pain. I am tired of doctors and the guesses that they make to try to figure out what is going on with my body. Feeling hopeless.

How does water taste? Have you been scoped? Since you are more than 1 yr out, I'd recommend the Grad list. Seems like somebody has had just about every problem there can be. Sad, huh? http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG I'm wondering about marginal ulcer? Occurs at the junction ("margin") between pouch and intestine, but your doc make the dx. The other question I would ponder is about BM's. Normal? Same as always? Do they seem related TO YOU?
