Question:
I was just wondering what anyone has to say if they chose VSG surgery.

I have chosen this surgery and getting ready to go through the process of trying to get my insurance to approve vsg. I would appreciate any feedback on my choice...Thanks Rebecca    — Rebecca B. (posted on May 4, 2008)

I had the VSG done almost a year ago (May 11th). I LOVE everything single thing about it. I lost over 100% of my excess weight and went from a size 22 pants and 3 x shirt to a size 4 pants and small shirt. If you have any other questions send me a PM or you can check out the VSG forum here at OH. That's where I learned everything about the VSG from.

Understand that because it has not been offered in this country for 10 years yet, the insurance companies do not want to pay for something that down the road might cause a problem they have to pay for addressing. However, the self pays in my support group do well, but the RNY's feel they do just a little better with less dedication. I am a focus on my diet and excersice so I have down very well with my RNY. Lost 100 pound in 5 month just 70 pounds to go. BIll

My daughter and I are both having the VS. We have researched it and have decided that for us it is the best choice. We have spoken with others who have had it and they are thrilled.

I have chosen the VSG, too. My surgery date was just set as 6/2. I chose VSG because I think it is right for me. No dumping. No rerouting of intestines or creating new outlets from the stomach. It removes the extra storage room in the stomach so you eat less, and you decrease the amount of ghrelin (hunger producing hormone). The procedure is shorter than many others, and the complication rate is slightly lower, while the recovery is slightly faster. And it costs about the same as the lapband...which is an issue because I am self pay and am borrowing the money from my parents. Those are my reasons. :) April

I had VSG 03/17/08 and am so happy with my choice. Life is so much better now. I have no regrets what-so-ever and the pounds are just coming off. I am never hungry, therefore I schedule all my meals thoughout the day. My insurance paid 100%.
