Sandy, it depends on which plan you have with bcbs. I had bcbs for my skin surgery, and they not only approved it quickly, but also paid the hospital well. It was bcbs of Ill, but I think most bcbs programs are similar. You have to find out what they want for you to qualify, and then see if you qualify, it is as simple as that. Some people have a lot of rules, some don't, and it changes every few years to make it more profitable for them. You have to contact them, and be pro active in your care. I think that overall though the bcbs programs have been good for me. Patricia P.

I have BCBS of New Jersey and was denied surgery. The doctor told me it was in exclusion by my employer. That may be something to look for. Before even meeting with the surgeon I had called the insurance company and asked what I would be responsible financially and I was given numbers. Never was I told my employer had an exclusion on my insurance plan. I hope this helps.
