Question:
19 months out Lap-RNY metal taste in my mouth...

Hi, I am 19 months out and for the last 2 weeks I've had a metal taste in my mouth. Has anyone else and what was the cause. I've e-mailed my dr. but haven't got anything back yet... Thanks!    — K. S (posted on September 11, 2008)

At 19 months out, I doubt if the issue is ketosis, where this taste is most common. Hopefully you are taking your calcium citrate daily. If it really concerned me, I'd be calling my surgeon, not emailing him. You may need to see a dentist. DAVE

Metal taste in your mouth? 1. Stop drinking mercury. 2. Stop sucking lead pipes. 3. Accept it, others have experienced it also, as have I. It does eventually go away. Take all your meds and follow other rules tightly. Lyn

Don't know if this is true but my sister who is a nurse says to have your iron checked.

You may have a mineral deficiency. Take a good "liquid" vitamin / mineral supplement like VEMMA. 65 minerals and 1000 IU of vit. D3. Go to www.TrySomeVemma.com

I had all my blood done in June and they said my iron was good. They took 9 tubes and everything was great... I just didn't know if it could be something caused by the pouch?

I am only 9 months out and had this and noone could tell me what it was. Recently had kidney stones and a really bad infection in my kidney. I also was zinc deficant. Have some labs done and check it out.

I thinki it means you need more iron. At least that's what a doctor told my friend when she was pregnant. She tolde him she was craving metal or like nickles and he said that she probably needed iron vitamins. So he tested her blood.

Sometimes taking Iron or Zinc supplements can give you a metallic taste, but it often goes away in time. If you've change vitamins or nutritional supplement lately, I'd check there. It's happened to me and it can be quite unpleasant. I hope you resolve it soon. Dusty
