Question:
Any Alaskans w/medicaide??

I want to start by saying "Thanks" for all who will respond to my ? I absolutely love this website and all the questions posted! Is there anyone in Alaska that has had WLS or is pre-op for WLS? I am wondering if anyone has Alaska State Medicaide and have you had positive experience w/them? How hard was it for you to get approved,or how easy was it for them to deny the pre auth? I was approve very easy, My insurance is GEHA, My doctor wrote a letter and they approve me the first time. Good Luck

First of all I would like to say congratulations!!! Dr. Todd is a great surgeon and a wonderful choice in fact his whole team is great. The only down thing was that they insisted on taking pics before EVERY appt. and if you are like I was that was hard but they do it so you can see the difference afterwards. And trust me you need it cuz your mind and your image of yourself that you see in your mind does not keep up with what you actually are (In losing) Dr Todd deals with state medical and will make sure you are approved. I was 375 on my surgery dat (11/29/05) and am now at 175 and still losing. I have not had any excess skin removed cuz I moved out of the area and am having a problem finding a dr in my area that understands open RNY cuz in this area they mainly do lapbands. Any way congrats again and if you have any other questions I didn't answer let me know. Also go to the support meetings they offer it will be a really good resource I found them helpful until I moved. Shawna

I don't have an answer to your question, but wanted to say that I think your Alaskan governor will make a great VP...& so do a lot of us in the lower 48.
