Question:
anyone have wls because Dr recommended to combine it with another surgery?
dr wants to do vertical sleeve due to hernias he is repairing- he feels it is insurance they wont reherniate — Terry W. (posted on June 14, 2010)

I think from the weight in your stomach pulling sometimes it causes
hernias. I had one repaired when I had lapband done. Not sure

Yes, I had a Hiatal Hernia and the Surgeon said he would insist that I have
WLS as well or the Hernia would re-rupture without weight loss. Incidently,
I had him remove my Gallbladder as well - it had bothered me for many years
but none of the standard tests showed that it was bad. When he removed it,
he said it definitely was problematic. Recovery took a little longer than I
think it would have with just Lap-Band but I'm good as new and doing great
at almost 4 months post-op.

well Dr called I have surgery date for 7/1 with all surgeries set to go.
I thank you both for your posts. Note my surgeries will be- vertical
sleeve, removing stomach from above diaphram, hiatel hernia new sphincter
muscle, abdominal hernia, and lateral flaps to secure better retention of
abdominal area!! Please pray that it all goes well.
