Is there a list of surgeons that proform the laparoscopic procedure in Florida?

Keith, My Surgeon, Dr. Jawad in Ocala does lap. He has done over 500 or so since 1999. I met him last week and absolutely loved him. He was surgeon of the year in 2001. He has been performing surgeries for 18 years, but now prefers doing it lap but will sometime have to do open depending on your situation.

Hi Keith...Dr. Muhammad Jawad in Ocala is my surgeon also, and I highly recommend him! He's great, quiet at first, but he warms up as you go thru surgery, recovery, etc. I don't think there's anyone else I would trust to do this, but that's my opinion. I had my LAP RNY 17 months ago, and I've lost 166lbs. He operates at two hospitals in Ocala, and is highly regarded at each. Good luck!

Dr. Maremar in Ft. Lauderdale, FL is hands down one of the best lap docters in the nation. he has also had the surgery and his wife as well. he is where a lot of the other wls surgeons go to train. he was not my wls docter but he did do my mothers and other family members. and he has done close to 3000 lap rny. he has an excellent program set up and also has many docters that work with him. good luck j

Robert Marema in Ft. Lauderdale is probably the best in the state for laps. He's done the most. And, as another posted said, he teaches the procedure to other surgeons. The most important question to ask is how many laps the surgeon has done. Marema has done, literally, thousands. Next Thursday (the 30th), I will be his patient for a lap that will be fed live nationwide to surgeons around the country. I seemed to fit the profile they needed (no previous abdominal surgeries -no scar tissue, etc.) Marema practices out of Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale.
