the number of pounds is not as important as the stability of your weight. I was stable for about 6 months before seeing a PS and nearly a year before I actually had surgery. you don't want to have plastics if you weight is still changing because it affects the outcome and appearance of the plastices. It is so expensive you want the BEST possible results.

My support group leader agrees with the prior poster. 6 months of stability, but 1-1-1/2 years is preferable as your skin needs time to catch up with the weight loss. In her 10+ years of exeprience, she says the people that wait are the happiest with the results. But the waiting is the hardest part...isn't it! Good luck to you.

I was 9 months post-op when I had my tt. I was 10 pounds from my goal weight. You can start having plastic surgery when you are within 20 pounds of your goal weight. I would start looking at plastic surgeons now so you can decide who you want to use and they can start submitting your paperwork to the insurance company.

Good morning! Just IMHO, but the very LAST thing you would ever want to do is rush your plastics, especially since your surgery will still be working for a while. I am about 15 months out, I have already lost around 215 or so, I am a 6 ft tall man and down to a total weight of around 170 - and I researched plastics until my brain hurt! And, I found probably the best surgeon who specializes in Weight Loss Patients in my state...and he absolutely INSISTS on waiting until your 18-month anniversary, because he believes that many changes are still occuring in your body during that time - - not just weight loss, but also redistribution of your body mass. He feels that 18 months is the "sweet spot" to ensure the very best results and the most success from your plastics. I am going for a combination tummy-tuck (with ab muscle tightening), and a "total body lift" because of other sagging areas. Hey, I simply LOVE the way I look right now as long as I have clothes on! LOL....but, once those clothes come off, it's very depressing. This does NOT help my sex life! LOL.... So - again, just IMHO, you shouldn't rush it... and besides, look how amazingly far you have already come! You are a success in your own rite! :) God bless, Michael

i just seen my p.a yesterday and he told me to get within 10% of my goal weight and then contact the plastic surgeon. the surgeon can decide how much weight they want you to lose. it probably would not hurt to go ahead and start checking into it. you never know how busy the surgeon is. good luck!!
