Question:
Has anyone had any experience with $$ Usana $$ nutritional system?

My surgeon sent me to a nutritionist for a pre-op eval. She recommended I go with products from Usana and gave me the number of a salesperson. The stuff is EXPENSIVE! Has anyone had experience with this stuff and is it worth the money?? Is the cost of the product equivalent to the quality?? sandy sessions    — Sandra S. (posted on March 6, 2006)

Personally, I do not use any multi-level marketing products. They are fine for normies to add to their normal dietary regimens, but for US, we need to target specific areas that will require higher than normal doses. The vitamins we need are specific, but they need not be expensive.

Let me clarify; these products ARE for our specific needs, at least for MY specific needs. As it was explained to me, they are geared for people who are insulin resistant like my nutritionist explained I am. I'm just trying to find out information on this specific line of nutritional products.

Sandra, I will be honest by saying I know nothing about the product. However I would be very leary of products sold in the manner that these are sold, soley for the fact that there may be some bias in why they were recommended. Find out the relationship between the doc/nutritionist and the rep for the products. Many times it is someones brother/cousin/uncle, or the doc gets a special perk for recommending, much like the drug companies. Good luck

There are too many red flags in this situation. First and foremost, this sounds as if your nutritionist is getting a kickback from her referrals. Talk to your surgeon's office and tell them about your concerns. Don't allow yourself to get railroaded into purchasing any kind of -supplements- (especially when multi-level marketing is the driving force). Don't believe the nutritionist or any salesperson, because they are trying to sell you a product... whether they are trying to help you is questionable. They are only trying to help themselves (to your blind faith and money).

I have been reading the Usana website. There in no reason you would have to get you supplements from this one source. The soyamax gives you 24 grams of protein in 29 grams of product. There are comperable products for less $. If you Surgeon is pushing this product, he may be in violation of the federal Sparks ruling. So is it worth the money - no. Is the cost equivalent to the quality - no. Keep looking. Worse case scenario is you cannot tolerate the taste post-op and then what? Best wishes! Joshua RNY 01/09/06 - 280/263/225

I am 2 and 1/2 years post-op and I recently started Usana. I highly recommend you visit their website; it has some really good information. Friends of mine suggested it to me because of my B12 and iron deficiency. I have been on them just over a month. I immediately had increased energy and starting sleeping better! I am in no way affiliated with Usana; I am just a strong believer! Read their website, I am currently taking the essentials. I should receive my blood test results in the next 2 weeks and to me that will be the deciding factor in deciding if I continue taking Usana. But just the energy boost alone has been worth it to me!
