Question:
Any doctors in NJ take NJ PLUS?
Does anybody in New Jersey who is Post-op know of any doctor(s) in NJ that are in-network with BCBS NJ PLUS? Any recommendations on out-of-network doctor(s) who are good with payment plans? — wildcat (posted on April 6, 2006)

I went to Dr. Mehta in New Brunswick. He is out of network but works with
NJ Plus. I had to pay an up front flat fee for the surgery $4500 (plus an
initial consultation co-pay) but his contract with his patients was that if
the insurance approves the surgery then doesnt follow through with payment,
the only payment the patient is responsible for was the flat fee and a per
visit co-pay after surgery. I do not know what his rates for new patients
are but he is a very good surgeon and is well liked by all his patients for
his skill. He has a good support group too. I know that there are a lot
of medical financing groups mentioned on posts here on different boards.
You probably could find out about financing from by doing a search. As to
in-network surgeons for NJ PLUS: I can tell you about the ones I
researched or heard about but hopefully someone else will post with more
experiences. Dr. Washington - Freehold - he was looking for a partner to
do RNY since his partner left the practice. They were not taking new
patients last time I inquired around November and surgery dates were backed
up several months. Dr. Chaudry - Edison - just started his bariatric
practice in NJ in 2005. I was not able to find much history on him. I did
have a friend who started out with him but felt that her surgery date kept
getting postponed by his office past a reasonable point so she changed
surgeons. There is Dr. Goyal - Union- No info on. There are a few more
surgeons in-network. In order to find them I went to the BCBSNJ webpage
and printed out a list of surgeons and cross listed them with a list of
bariatric surgeons from the bariatric surgeons lists from this website and
the bariatric surgeons associations. Just call them to make sure they are
still participating with NJPLUS and still accepting patients. Good Luck.

You owe it to yourself to call Dr. Lyudmila Pupkova in Florham Park, NJ.
You won't find a better or sweeter doctor.

Dr. David Ward in Somerville or Morristown:Allied Surgical Group, visit my
profile for a link to their site. Out of network with NJPLUS, but the
office is very accomodating as far as payment plans go...Good Luck!
