Question:
Does anyone have a Dr, WLS friendly accepts BS HMO in Sac CA

Having trouble finding a UC Davis group Dr, PCP who is Bariatric WLS friendly. The NP at my PCP's office said she would refer, felt I should qualify and was supportive. When I asked the referral nurse to submit the referral to a surgeon Dr. Ali at UC Davis, she said the "Head" Dr in that office does not allow referrals for any WLS. I really want to see Dr. M. Ali and need a supportive PCP in Sacramento/Roseville CA. Can anyone recommend a good one?    — specdeb (posted on October 15, 2008)

Why don't you consult the California Board on OH and look for Sacramento and make the necessary calls till you find the person/insurance you are seeking? Marti in San Jose

Check UC Davis Sacramento CA for Dr.Ali Mohammed, or Dr. Fuller I had my surgery there in 2/08 and they were AWESOME 916-734-2680... Good Luck!!

I have UC Davis, I work for BS, I have a BS HMO, and I just had surgery on 10/06/08. I have Dr. Amanda Camposagrado in Folsom,CA. She is more than willing to refer, but you have to meet all the criteria. If you can not find a PCP that will refer you, you need to get a denial in writing from your PCP for the referral and then you can appeal the denial through BS. If you have anymore questions just ask.

You could contact the surgeon's office and ask for suggestions... they will know what doctors are WLS friendly for sure.
