Question:
Condtions for insurance approval

I have just spoke to my doctor about having the lap band surgery. She told me that she would work on getting me a referl. I am a 100 pounds overweight and I have high cholesterol, I just told her that at the end of the day my feet hurt really bad. Great West is my insurance company, I am worried that I might not get accepted for insurance coverage beacuse it may not be medicaly needed. Has anyone else with Great west had the same lack of elments?    — Tracywilde (posted on May 26, 2006)

Well theres only one sure fire way to find out if you will be covered... Call your Insurance company and find out if your policy covers it and what requirements do you need to meet for it to be covered. Your Bmi is exactly 40 and you have High Cholesterol (which is a comorbiditity). Remember when you talk to your Ins Co document everything. Good Luck!

Great -West seems to be great with approving this surgery without a bunch of hoops, as long as it is medically ness. If your employer doesnt have a stipulation then you should be good to go with GW

You probably have arthritis in your feet. Tell your podiatrist to prescribe you medication for your feet. It will be on record as a co-morbidity.
