Question:
I had RNY almost 5 years ago. Felling full very quick without eating alot.

I have currently lost 25 pounds with exersice and diet, however I am unable to eat very much. It feels like I am full after a couple of bits. I was told that I could have shrunk my pouch to small. I am preparing for Plastic's in 2 months. I am trying to loss as much weight as I can before. Any sugguestions?    — Fran J. (posted on July 15, 2008)

Congratulations on your weight loss. I guess you should consider yourself very fortunate to still have a small pouch 5 years out. As far as quick weight loss goes, go back to the basics... get into ketosis with protein and veggies, no carbs, exercise and lots of water. Stay under 30 gms non veggie carbs/day. You could get the ketostix and check that every morning to ensure ketosis. If you can only eat a few bites, make sure they are the healthiest protein bites you can find. If you are having trouble getting in enough protein and have lots of restriction, go back to protein shakes. You will need lots of protein for adequate healing after your plastics as well. Good luck, Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC

Just get the protiens in and relax, i am out 1 year 7 months and still cant and won't eat too much. You don't want to stretch your pouch back to full size. That isn't good. Eat till your full. thats it. I still cant eat more than a golfball size of food. I can but I feel like I am going to bring it back up. I have lost 270 # in the 19 months I do not want to blow it.

I'm not quite sure what the problem is? It sounds like you wanted to lose 25 lbs and that's wonderful! Congrats! You are lucky if your pouch shrunk and as long as you are getting enough food to stay healthy, don't worry about eating less. That's great for 5 years out! Make sure you are taking your vits and supps and getting in your protein...Get labs before plastics too just to make sure all is well! I'd just say good for you!
