Question:
Oranges??

My favorite fruit is oranges. I've been told no carrots or oranges. Is anyone eating oranges and having problems?    — maree250 (posted on April 20, 2010)

I eat oranges, but I basically only suck the juice. I cut the oranges in half and then cut the halves into rings. I don't think I could chew the white pulp well enough, and I worry it could cause a problem. As far as the sugar content in the oranges, I do not have a problem with that and I am allowed oranges on my plan.

I am allowed to have carrots and oranges as long as it will go down and stay down. But my doctor also told me to come to him and follow what he tells me and not what I read on here. If it was me if you can eat it and it does not bother you then enjoy. I do and still stay within my diet set by the doc. Hope this helps.

I am a little over 1 year post op rny. I have never had any problems with oranges or carrots. So if you can keep them down and not have any problems eat them. Be sure that you chew and chew them well. Good luck.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I wasn't allowed any fruit or carbs until I lost 75% of weight. I now will eat a little bit of fruit. They have the Mandarin oranges in Splenda in little containers.

I haven't tried oranges, but I love orange juice. Since orange juice has so much sugar I have started drinking the Syntrax Nectar Naturals Orange protein drink and it taste just like orange juice and is absolutely delicious PLUS I get my protein. I found mine at mybariatricpantry.com and they had the best price so maybe if you like orange juice you could try that and it would help with the craving. Good luck!
