Question:
Has anyone ever had a bad cramp in the upper part of the stomach and it wouldn't go

away? I am 13 mos. post op from the RNY & I felt hungry & wasn't able to eat for a while. Well when I was able to get to food I was not hungry & my stomach felt really full for hours. I am speaking of that uncomfortable feeling that we get when we've eaten too much. Later that night I was very nauseated but of course I couldn't vomit because there was no food there to throw up. After trying to sleep it off, it didn't help the pain woke me up every hour. I went to the emergency room & they found nothing wrong. Do you think I had a virus & couldn't vomit because other than being a little sore the next day I was fine? Please someone tell me have they ever endured such a strange feeling? I think I know the pain you're talking about. Thankfully, I haven't experienced it it quite a while. I'm two years out. I had started getting that pain off and on at about nine months out. It felt like a "charlie horse" in my pouch. Saw the surgeon. Had two gall bladder tests done among other things (gall bladder was ok) Never did find out what it was, but it just one day stopped. I've come up with so many of my own "diagnosis" Was it hunger? Was it not enough water? Was it an angry pouch? Was it pulled muscle from new exercises I was able to do....Whatever it was, thankfully, it stopped and I have not experienced it for over six months. I hope your pain stops too and of course, doctors know best, I'm just relating my experience. Good luck to you.

I am 8 months RNY PO and I have had this happen several times. Felt like a combination of really bad gas pain and period cramps all rolled together. I took some antacids and it cleared it right up. It didn't feel like I needed to potty and I don't have periods any more, so I knew it wasn't either of those. Just bad indigestion even though it didn't feel like it. I do strongly recommend that you consult with your dr though. Best of luck! Kristin

I am 9 months PO RNY and YES, I have had this happen too, they have tested for ulcers, gall bladder, you name it, can't come up with anything. But what helps me is Papaya Enzyme, it's chewable, you can get it at Walmart, and it aids in digestion. I take this and the chewable GAS-X when this pain happens and it seems to help. I never go anywhere without Papaya or Gas-x. Please go get some, I promise these help!

I'm over three yrs post op and I remember having that cramp that you are talking about. It seemed to linger around the year and a half mark but the pain will go away. I rmember my Dr. telling me that your insides are still moving around and it takes awhile for them to figure out where to go. Don't worry, you wake up and realize that you don't have that feeling. I haven't been on this site for over a yr and when I read your message I suddenly remembered this. Good Luck
