Question:
Please Help!!

Hi, I am new here and I have been searching for employers in the Boise, Idaho area that have wls friendly insurance. I have typed in every keyword I can think of, and I have had no luck. I have seen a lot of mentions of Home Depot, but I am wondering who the others might be. I have Blue Cross of Idaho and there is an exclusion in my policy. I do not own my home, and when I called the Voc. Rehab, they were almost mean about it. They made it perfectly clear that they do not cover that type of thing. I have questionable credit because of a bankruptcy we filed in 2004, even though it was a ch 13 and we paid for three years. I have managed to save $3000 toward my surgery, but that doesn't even come close! Any advice, ideas, please!! I am 5'5" and am now up to 322. Thank you. This is a wonderful site!    — kelli4wls (posted on February 14, 2006)

I grew up in Boise, ID and my entire family lives there now. My sister's company, Citibank, was willing to pay for the lap band (not sure about RNY). They actually had AMAZING insurance from what I could tell, she was pregnant when she got the job and they covered her C-Section without any issues. Good luck!!

I wish you luck with your search. Finding employment is hard enough without the added headache of wrong insurance. If you do need to self-pay, I do know of a great company that scheduled my gastric bypass in Europe. Since I was a self-pay I wanted it to be affordable without losing out on care. Feel free to email me if you want more info... [email protected]

Hi Kelli, you are correct in that the $3000 is not going to take you a long way. In part, the total surgery for myself after one year came to over $55,000. I had a couple issues, but you must prepare yourself for those situations. For the Doctors in Colorado Springs, this is why they don't accept cash payments. They know that there is a percentage of people that have some issues, and they want there monies, so they only work with insurance companies. Good Luck

Good luck in finding a job with that kind of insurance. What I would suggest is checking with government jobs first to see what they pay if anything. Go to your state message board and ask there. As for self pay, I went to Mexico and saw Dr. Aguirre. You still have a bit more to save, but it's a lot more doable and he's a stellar surgeon. You can check out my profile for more info. Good luck!

Try posting this question on the Idaho forum: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/ID/ Perhaps people there can identify employers in your area.
