I had lots of gas for about 2 weeks after surgery. I still have more gas than before surgery but none of it has been painful. It seems like everything now gives me a lot of gas especially the protein shakes. My dr. sd that it was all normal.

Hi I haven't had my surgery yet but I will tell you what the VA tells me. "If your surgery is performed laparoscopically, air is utilized to inflate your abdomen. You may experience cramping abdoominal pain from the air. If this occurs, ask the nurse for aheating pad. It may take several weeks for the gas to be reabsorbed by your body."

Hi, I had wicked gas pains, and mine lasted about 1 and a half weeks. the best thing that helped me, believe it or not was to walk around the house, no matter how bad the pain was, because the gas bubbles are stuck and they need to be shifted. but don't worry because it won't last forever. Take care:)

I only had gas pain one time. I think it lasted for a day or two. It really hurts. The doctor said I might had gas pockets due to surgery.
