My best friend went through Dr. Barker last year in August of 2007. She had the lapband surgery and she is doing great. She said he is a wonderful doctor and the staff is wonderful also. I had my surgery January 14, 2008 I had Gastric by pass. Dr Davidson did my surgery in the Presbyterian hospital of Dallas. The whole team was great. Talk with both doctors and choose, they are both good. Good luck

You don't say what surgery you are having (and it's not listed), but Dr. Barker is an excellent surgeon. I had the VSG (sleeve) and in 10 months I went from wearing a size 22 pants and 3x shirt to now I'm wearing a size 4 pants and small shirt. I love my surgery and my surgeon!

The previous poster, Teresa, and I both had Dr. Barker perform our surgeries (though she had the "sleeve" and I had laparoscopic bypass). We are very good buddies and have a Barker support group that we go to a couple of times a week. If you want to know about it, please email me: [email protected] We have so much fun and there is a lot of love and assistance for anyone, pre or post op, so if you want to come to a meeting, just let me know and I will give you the info. Dr. B (as we refer to him) and Dr. Thompson (Dr. T, of course!), his marvelous office staff and the psychological and dietary group he is affiliated with (and whom do pre and post op testing and counseling) are terrific. You get the entire package. I wouldn't have placed my life in anyone else's hands. When I went under the anaesthetic, I was confident in Dr. B's skill and experience. I highly recommend him. And I did my homework, beforehand, too. Make the choice that feels comfortable for you. One good thing is that Dr. B. operates at several different hospitals so there's bound to be one fairly near you. I have made my best friends in the whole world with my fellow Barker patients. They are lovely and my life line. They have helped me get through so much, and not just post op issues! If you want to join us, just contact me and I will give you the info. I wish you all the best. You are about to enter the most exciting phase of your life. It's not easy. There's a lifetime of work ahead but I wouldn't trade this experience for a million bucks. I am almost at goal. My surgery was August 6, 2007, and I've lost over 115 lbs. And this time, the weight is off for life! I can't tell you how great that feels. Congratulations on making the decision to change your life. -Alison

DR BARKER DID MY SURGERY, I LOVE HIM AND HIS STAFF BUT HIS OFFICE IS VERY BUSY AND YOU DO HAVE TO WAIT A COUPLE HOURS TO SEE HIM BUT IT'S WORTH THE WAIT TO KNOW THAT I HAVE A GREAT SURGEON. HE SEES PATIENTS IN HIS OFFICE ON TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS AND DOES SURGERIES MONDAY, WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAYS. HE ALSO HAS AN ASSISTANT NAMED BOBBY THAT IS GOOD AND DR THOMPSON (INTERNIST)IS ALSO IN HIS OFFICE AND HELPS HIM SEE FOLLOW UP PATIENTS. DR THOMPSON IS ALSO AN AWESOME DR. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR BARKER AND HIS FRIENDLY STAFF. I WAS TOLD BY HIS OFFICE THAT HE DOES ABOUT 100 SURGERIES A MONTH.

I have heard good things about Dr. Barker. I live in the area and had VSG with Dr. Cribbins in Plano. He is wonderful and has a great support group the first Wed. of each month at Pres. Hosp. of Plano. Just one more option. Pat

I also had Dr. Davidson. I had my surgery done at Vista Hospital in Garland. Very small, one on one nursing care. I love Dr. Davidson, and his office staff is a dream. Good luck on your journey.

I can't top what anyone else has said about Dr. Barker. He's very good, and calm, patient and listens well. He performed my lapband a year ago.

I was going to use Dr. Barker but he was not in my insurance's coverage list so I had to switch. I went with Dr. Stephen Hamn right next to PH Plano. He was good and very direct with what I needed to do for follow-up. The kind of direction I needed. Just had mine on Monday and doing great
