Question:
Back pain

I am 6 weeks post op Gastric bypass and experience back pain all the time. Does anyone else experience this and found any solutions. I have tried the back massages and hot baths. Any suggestions? Thank you, Shana    — shana17 (posted on September 7, 2007)

Robin....I had the same issues before and after surgery. My body was very angry over my new hi protein diet AND with the liquids - always going to the bathroom - basically, my kidneys were overstimulated. It will pass, that's the good thing, but you are probably completely uncomfortable and emotional and snapping at everyone and everything. I've been there. That was the source of my pain and discomfort. I always say check with your doc/surgeon or NUT - as I did. They all confirmed each other's diagnosis. Good luck. My back issues finally stopped at about 1.5-2 months out.

My suggestion is to go see your doctor. It's very possible that this is not related to your surgery at all. Depending on what your doctor's diagnosis is, you may be able to get a couple of physical therapy appointments to teach you stretches and movements that will decrease your pain. Best wishes Sid

I had severe back pain for the about 3 months. I think it was from using my back more than I realized becauce as I healed and lost the stomach soreness and was bale to walk more upright and sleep more comfortably it went away...I am 2 years post op and suffer no pains at all :) Stay positive and keep looking ahead :) GOD BLESS YOU, Sherrie
