What about fluids -- are you getting in plenty. That should relieve constipation or start taking Benefiber either the pills or the powder 3 times a day -- works like a charm. Continue what you're doing and the weight will come off -- not like it did at first -- but you will start seeing the difference in your cloths if you haven't seen it yet.

I would check with your Dr. I have started over with soft foods for a week or so and that seemed to help. I am 1 yr out and have lost 248#.

I'm guessing your'e constipated. Increased fluid intake AND stool softeners help. I had RNY in May, 2006, have lost 140 pounds, and I take 2 stool softeners in the PM and one in the AM. It helps immensely. I've rarely had any cramps as you describe, only mild ones when I eat more that I know I should. DAVE

Make sure you are taking in enough fluids, 64 ounces at least, sip, sip, sip, and I use a dose of Milk of Magnesia, just be real careful not to overdue it - and replenish your fluids. What you are feeling happens a lot, you just need to fine tune your diet/fluid intake. It'll pass, pun intended ;)

Hi Melinda. You need to talk to you doctor about the cramps when you eat. This happened to my friend and then they found out she had an ulcer which she had to have surgery to get repaired. Not to say that is what you have, but get checked out. Good luck!

I had the same thing and found out it was my gallbaldder. Do you still have yours? Could be that or an ulcer, depending where the cramps are. Definitely call your doc if you haven't already. Good luck!

I am 4 mos. out from RNY and have needed some fiber "help". My dr. recommended Fibersure, not to be confused with similarly named products, which I started a few weeks ago. After a few days, it really seemed to make a difference -- and without the odor which I previously seemed to get taking the Colace stool softener. The Fiber-sure label content says "Inulin (100% natural veg. fiber)" - the only ingredient. It is totally tasteless and can be mixed with food, drinks -- and yet doesn't require the huge volumes of water stated on other products. (Yes, we all should be drinking tons of water anyway.)

First of all, talk to your Doctor about the cramping and constipation right away. Secondly, if I were you, I would go back to eating soft, bland foods for awhile, such as baby food, plain mashed potatoes, oatmeal, cream soups. Be careful the amount you're eating at one time is not more than your Doctor has told you to. Chew the food well, eat slowly, and never (for life) drink any fluids with your meal. Do not drink fluids after your meal for at least an hour or more (ask your Doctor how long). In between meals, you should be carrying around a water bottle with you day and night, and sip it frequently. You can also substitute water with a non-carbonated, no-sugar, caffeine-free beverage such as Crystal Light. Buy Fiber-sure or Benefiber powder and use the powder. You can sprinkle it on foods and even in water, as it is tasteless and disappears in water. Try Activia sugar-free yogurt every day, it helps with constipation and helps your digestive system be healthy. Also, might want to get your Gall Bladder checked if you still have it, as the cramping could be a bad gall bladder.

I too had frequent constipation with extreme pain. I tried several natural laxatives without much success until recently. My daughter, who also had rny surgery, told me about flaxseed (recommended by our dieticion). So I tried ground flaxseed and surprise it did work. I've been using it about two weeks now and can truely state it's worked wonders. I found it in Krogers and other food markets (in health food aisle) already ground byHodgson Mills. Give it a try after clearing with your bariatric team.
