Most RNY surgeons today use staples and also stich the are to form your pouch. Stictes alone could come undone, but unlikely both would come undone. NO BM'S for 4 days is not healthy at all. You probably need more fiber and water in your diet. You might consider daily stool softeners, Miralax, etc. to help. Right now I'd suggest one of a couple of things. Drink plenty of water and eat some prunes--the natural way my surgeon often suggests to relatively new post ops for constipation. OR, you might consider a Fleet enema or glycerine suppositories. I've resulted to these latter suggestions when I have your temporary issue. DAVE

first and foremost you need to call your dr. you may be having gallbladder attacks!! I also eat prunes to help me go to the bathroom. you can also take mineral oil, directions is on bottle, it is tasteless, just greasy.and it does work!!! hope this helps

Dear...if you're having such issues...coming here to get the answer is going to take longer than it would if were to contact your surgeon's office. Call them ASAP!

Call your surgeon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then take a laxative if you still haven't gone? Is this a normal bowel habit or something new?? If it is new CALL YOUR SURGEON!!

If you are six months out the pouch is healed and you will not be ripping staples out. You could have a ulcer or stricture. I have had both and the pain is crazy. Also being consapated will cause you pain. take a laxative or supository to get some relief. Call your doctor so they can see what the problem is. I got told I should have called sooner. Eating and drinking should not hurt so call.

Okay, well that makes sense then...You are gonna need intervention to soften that plug! That's more than likely what is causing your pain. I hope by now you have called your surgeon...twisted and blocked intestines can cause some serious trouble and all that food sitting in your body that long can become septic. (This can be very serious) You NEED to get that waste out of your body somehow and your surgeon can help and check you out for reasons this happened!

I noticed you posted your question 2 separate times, so I was wondering if you ever actually called your surgeon or went to the ER to find out what's going on?
