Question:
Can QMB be used in a different state from where you live?

I have Medicare A, B, and QMB which is a Medicaid plan which supplements Medicare. I am planning to use an out-of-state surgeon and was wondering if QMB is accepted outside of the state in which one resides.    — ~ Leelee ~ (posted on January 3, 2009)

Hi, I also have medicare and Ga. medicaid. medicaid paid for my hospital bill, and medicare paid the rest. I think it is according to the state and which Dr. you use. Good Luck Debi

Medicare will work in any of the 50 states. However, Medicaid only pays within the state you are insured. Call your surgeons office for more information. Their staff should be able to answer any questions regarding insurance. If they can'r, call your Medicaid office. They might not know the answer right away but they can find out. Get everything in writing to avoid further obstacles. Good luck.
