I just had the rouen-y surgery last week at GW hospital in DC. I think one thing that surprised me that I was not prepared for was my first night in the hospital. I was still on the morphine pump and about 2 oclock in the morning, I started spitting up blood with phlyem. I thought I was dying and when the nurse arrived I asked her if I was dying. I wanted her to call my husband so he could be there when I died. She laughed and said it was not uncommon to spit up blood. To say the least it was upsetting. I had no pain the next day and was able to get off the morphine pump that day and walk 1x round the ward in the evening. Overall, I feel Great! It feels like my new job is learning how to get enough protein shakes in and water during this liquid phase. One of the people in the support group also said something that was helpful. Take your time off from work to get use to feeding and taking care of yourself, it was the best advice I've received. It's a job, just feeding yourself. Oh!almost forgot, it took almost 5 days before I had a bowel movement. This may not seem like a big thing, but it was like a brand new baby poop. Slight green and that scared me also. Thought I would have to get adult diapers, but what I have noticed it's been fairly consistent each morning. So those are my experiences, I have my first post op check up on Friday, looking forward to going on the puree diet. Hope this information was useful. FW

I had RNY five months ago. I lost 90 lbs, and came off a ton of medication. I can actually run now. This is something you won't regreat. Like you I trust in God's help, he won't let you down. Good Luck

Congrats and goodluck! My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. My advice...WLS success is not an ala carte kind of thing. You need to eat well, exercise, and take your supplement to have long term success. After 2 yrs and 200lbs lost I am biting the bullet and have my plastic surgery tomorrow, just another part of this journey. Best of luck to you and hope to see you on the losong side soon!

Congratulations on your surgery date!! I had my gastric sleeve done 2 days ago. I, too, trust in the Lord and he has guided me for about 18 months in my decision process to have weight loss surgery. My advice to you, as I sit in my home with my wonderful husband as my caretaker, is to take your time and get to know your new "inside" body and how it will react to different foods and liquids. I have taken off 4 weeks from work so that by the time I go back I will be stronger and will be eating at least pureed foods. Take care and keep your eyes on the Lord as you recuperate. This site has been a world of info to me and it seems like an instant sisterhood is formed with those around us who have had this surgery. God bless!!

Start putting money away for clothes NOW!! LOL I wish I had that little piece of advice..I was changing my wardrobe including undergarments probably about every 6 months or so. I was big one though. I started at 379 down to 175.
