Question:
Is there anyone who is having or has had trouble drinking?

I am 16 days post op. Everything I drink tastes terrible, I cant even stand the taste of water anymore. Everthing is either too sweet or tastes like dirt. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.    — jajaka1652 (posted on June 10, 2010)

I could barely stand the shakes. They are so sweet. I think that, especially at first, you have to forget about eating or drinking for taste. It does get better. Try different protein drinks. Isopure has a drink that is tolerable. It comes in liquid form. Vitalady.com has samples.

I had VSG surgery and found after that drinking water just seemed to hit my stomach hard. I still don't drink much water I drink a lot of decaffeinated iced tea sweetened lightly with stevia. I am now after a year out able to drink some crystal light type drinks and it taste pretty good before it didn't. You might also try taking water and adding a little apple juice or something else to soften it till you find something that works. Fluids are important and help to flush the fat out and keeps us healthy. I hope you find a drink that works well for you.
