Question:
has anyone had to wait to submit their info to the insurance co.?

The doctors office wants to wait until Jan. to submit my information to the insurance company because they said BC/BS doesn't usually want to accept anyone this late in the year and if they deny me it will take around 3 months for them to reonsider me. I don't want to take the chance of them denying me but they are booking surgeries for Feb. and March now and if I wait it will probley be May or June before I can have my surgery. What should I do?    — Tracey K. (posted on November 27, 2001)

I know the waiting game. I waited 5 months just to get my consult. I'm still pre-op and know I will have a few more months to wait for surgery. I would ask the surgeon's office if they can schedule you "tentatively" until they hear from your insurance. If not, March isn't that far away. It feels like it, but it isn't!

why don't you call your insurance company yourself? Ask them. I have BCBS and the # is right on the back of the card. I think the person at your doctors office is full of BS. Most BCBS will make a decision within 10 days of recieving the paperwork. On my 8th day I was told they wanted me to have a psych eval. That took another 2 weeks to get. Once I had my psych eval and it was submitted to the insurance co. I was approved. That was in Sept. I think. My surgery date isn't until January, so with most doctors there is also a wait just to get to your day of surgery. Call your insurance co. and ask. I would insist that the doctors office get that paperwork in pronto.I mean, what does this doctor's office think?.........that the insurnace company sits around not approving anyone just because it's towards December and the end of the year??? That's absurd!
