I had the same thing. The gallbladder came out and the pain was still there. I went back to my surgeon and he said that I have a small ulcer and I need to take Prevacid for about a month to keep the acid out of it so it will heal. Since the first day I took it, No more pain! Really, you should talk to your surgeon. It is not that bad, and so easy to take care of. Good luck.

Patty I am 8 mos out and learned I have h.pylori. The syptoms are similar. It is cured with antibiotics. It's a good idea to have it checked to to see if it is h.pylori, a stricture or something else. Best wishes -

Talk to your surgeon. A quick course of Nexium and in just a few days, if it is an ulcer, you will be pain free. Look in the library on this site under "ulcer" and find lots of info on what it feels like etc. Your only 3 1/2 months post op. Many are not happy with their surgeries and experience regrets at this early stage, especially when their old friend, food, is no longer there to help cope. I think once you get past the pain and see the loss you'll feel better about your surgery. If you have to be scoped, I've been told its painless. Get with your surgeon to resolve it.

I dont mean to be the doomsayer or make light of anyone elses posts, but sometimes a quick round of some prevacid or nexium doesnt always do the trick. And yes, she may be only 3-4 months out, but what about the ones that are 2+ years out that are wondering if all the pain is worth being thin?

please contact your surgeon. at 4 weeks i developed similar symptoms and tried the nexium route without contacting my surgeon. turns out i had developed a stricture of rather TIGHT proportions from the pouch into the small intestine and had to have a scope and dilation to repair. i also let it go way too long - vomited for 13 days before surrendering. was way too dehydrated and too low on potassium - it took 3 days in the hospital on an IV before they could assess me for the procedure. it's now 48 hours after the procedure - i'm back home and feeling terrific....and chastened.
