Question:
Self Employed / High Premiums?

A while back, I was searching a way to lower my insurance premium, because my family coverage had gone up to $667.00 a month. We are self-employed. Well, thought this may help someone else. I dropped my children off the policy, and got them covered on Medicaid. It is easy to get your children on Medicaid, but not yourself. Then, I raised the deductible a little higher. Now my premium is 324.00 per month for my husband and me. Hope that helps someone out there that has a high premium, and can not change policies due to having WLS.    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on April 15, 2005)

You were paying $667/mo for a FAMILY? Wow, am I ever in the wrong state. We pay more like $400 EACH (self employed). Good thing my kids are grown. And I have one of the cheapest plans I can get with a small company. Wow.

You said it is easy to get children on medicaid? Must be because you have more than one. I make like $12hr, and hubby is disabled. His disability is not even $800 month. I cant even qualify for CHIPS.
