Question:
What happens to the skin on your face after the weight loss?

Some of us were discussing this on Onelist, but mostly sharing our ignorance... so I decided to post it here. I will turn 50 a few days after my surgery. Most people don't think I look my age; I am often taken for 40's or even late 30's. I have assumed I am fairly unwrinkled because of the arttractive layer of fat in my face and chins. I'll be happy to lose the fat, but will I end up with a prune face afterwards?    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on July 23, 1999)

I'll be 50 before you know what hit me! Take a look at our pix at our web site until I figure out how to get 'em on here. www.vitalady.com And then, how we did it. We use lots of high quality protein, lots of dry Vit E, I used oceans of lotions (some cheap, some pricey), we used a hair-skin-nail product. I think of how much betetr we'd have turned out if only I'd drunk enough water! But I was particularly afriad of turning out crispy, being a redhead & aging by the second. I think we turned out OK, and I really credit the protein for keeping our skin at least our age and not letting us look like pruney old antiques. Of course, we avoid milk, sugar, grazing and drinkign with meals, so that helps hold us steady. 5 years for me, 4 years for him. Stay nourished, inside & outside.

It's all in the genes! I'll be fifty next April, and had my surgery 2 years ago. My face looks great (really!). But my thighs and my butt-ugghh! I didn't carry the weight all that much in my face. It was mostly below the waist, thus the flab!

Actually after losing 116 pounds my face, throat and shoulders look great. It is the boobs, upper arms, thighs and tummy that sag.

I didn't get wrinkles per se when I lost weight, but the fat that was in my cheeks directly alongside my mouth had supported some skin that is now sagging (jowls), sort of giving me more of a puppy dog look than I had before. I'm 49. Also the skin under my chin is definitely wrinkled and saggy (but not so much to shock people). It is better looking, I think, than the fat chin was. This may improve with time, although I don't know of anyone whose elasticity of their skin got better with age.

I have lost 160# in the last 15mo. I do not have excess skin on my face, however I do have excess skin on my legs and arms, and belly. My Dr. will do a belly tuck and I personally would like a boob job, but even having excess skin in a few places is much better than the fat. I am 46. I would do it all over again in a second, I feel GREAT!!
