Question:
How is Prudential's approval record?

My insurance (Prudential) at work will be effective 12/1/99. Has anyone had good or bad experiences getting approved by them?    — Linda L. (posted on September 18, 1999)

I have Prudential HMO, Florida and I am scheduled for surgery March 16,2000. Once the doctors office faxed the records to them I had approval in 2 days. It is covered if it is deemed medically necessary and your primary has to call and start the efforts to get authorization to see a surgeon for a consultation. Then the surgeon turns in his report to the insurance company and they make their decision from that. I found out quite innocently that a lot of the delays are made by the doctors staff. Such was the case with mine. Once the paperwork went in it was assessed and approved. Keep track with the surgeons staff. Most are really pressured these days. And don't always blame the insurance company for taking so long. It may be the office personnel who didn't do their job right!
