Question:
Anyone know of a person having wls after having a brain anerysm surgery?

Am wondering if it is possible and if so, what was the outcome? Thanks    — Julie M. (posted on December 27, 2004)

Why are you asking? The 2 aren't related . . . If the person in question is well nourished (taking good vites regimin - see VitaLady.com, and lots of whey protein - 120 grams/day or more) they prolly have the same chances as a normie. Malnourished is another story, however. If this is you, I'm sorry, and I wish you the very best outcome. Take good care . . .

I am asking because someone very close to me has ALREADY had brain anerysm surgery and is intersted in having the wls surgery. I DIDNT think it would be such a problem to ask the group if anyone else has gone thru it. Just looking to help this person. That was my only true reason for asking.

*WOW*! You sure read a lot into something that wasn't there . . . There are millions of medical conditions, procedures out there, most of which have no more bearing on WLS than what I said . . . nourishment, general health. Some people believe it's the cure for everything, tho . . . it won't cure anyeurism, etc. I didn't realizre that answering you would be such a major problem. Good luck to friend.

I'm sure it's possible but I haven't heard of anyone having WLS after an aneurysm. I would think that if your friend's weight had something to do with causing the aneurysm (say if the friend had high BP, which may be related to an aneurysm occurring) that WLS could only help. BUT, there may be other problems related to the aneurysm that would prevent the friend from being a candidate for WLS. Your friend would need to talk with both their PCP, the neurosurgeon who worked on the aneurysm and a WLS surgeon to determine if WLS is a good idea. I don't think having an aneurysm would prevent your friend from having WLS.

Yes, I know a lady who lost around 150 lbs after brain surgery. Three years PO she has just had her extra skin removed.
