Question:
Does anyone know a doctor in No. California who accepts medi-cal for this surgery?

I am in desperate need of this surgery and unfortunately I only have medi-cal. I was wondering if anyone knows a doctor that will help me.    — M R. (posted on September 15, 1999)

Yes, I think someone else had Medical. They went to Dr. Meyerowitz. He is in the book in San Mateo or Burlingame. I am pre-op, my doctor is Dr. Wetter. If you email me your address I will forward a support group for WLS in N. Calif. I am at [email protected]

UCLA Medical Center in Westwood and Dr. Edward Livingston accepts medi-Cal. If you look under my profile you can get all of the info . Good Luck. Cheri Hayworth

Dr. Gladen in Fresno accepts MediCal. In fact, he was instrumental in getting them to approve WLS.

Dr. Coates at Doctors Hospital of Manteca accepts Medi-Cal and performs Lap RNY. Dr. Marco Patti of UCSF also accepts Medi-Cal as far as I know, but I've heard that their hospital is understaffed and overcrowded. I've heard that the hospital Dr. Coates operates at is much smaller and more efficient. Good luck to you!
