Question:
Help me with my decision.

I have just started my journey and went to my first support group meeting to find out that no one can see the behovior specialist for six months so it would probly take a year to get a surgery date and I contacted another doctor who told me my journey would take from 4 to 6 months including to get a surgery date so I switched to her did I do the right thing?    — patti72 (posted on April 10, 2003)

Only you can make that decision. One thing to think about is how good the surgeon is. You obviously don't want to change from a good surgeon (low mortality rate) to bad one (high mortality rate) just becuase you can get the surgery done sooner. Research both doctors on this site, read what other people say. You need to go to the one whom you are most comfortable with.

I did the same thing. I could have went to a Dr about 2 hrs away but they have a 1-2 year waiting list. I did some research and changed to another dr, who doesn't have a waiting list (4 hrs away). I have started all this in January, and now all I am waiting for is the insurance precertification to get a surgery date. (hopefully it will be soon). I am in a unique case though, My hubby and I am having this done at the same time, so we will need a surgery date that he has 2 opening. I look for it to happen around the end of May.
