Question:
Has anyone been able to overturn a written exclusion with BCBS of TX?

My policy states, Any services or supplies provided for reduction of obesity or weight, including surgical procedures, even if the participant has other health conditions that might be helped by a reduction of obesity or weight. Am I just plain out of luck or is there a way to appeal this? I have not recieved my denial yet, but I am sure I will.    — Cameron S. (posted on September 5, 2003)

other people have said to stress morbid obesity. If it just says obesity, it is not as serious as morbid obesity. so have your doctor stress morbid.

I have BCBS Care first of Texas and it pretty much stated the same things about not covering anything having to do with weight loss meds, classes,dr. visits, anything BUT surgery.I was approved after my 2nd try .I first tried to have the lap band and they would not approve it. I resubmitted for the gyn and was approved.I was told BCBS is a VERY hard Ins. company to deal with.
