Question:
Information on Dr. Fallang's RNY

I'm scheduled for a lap RNY with Dr. Fallang, in Middleton, Ohio in december. Since I'm coming from out of town, I haven't had the chance yet to ask him any technical questions about his RNY. Does anyone know what size of pouch he creates? Does he transect the stomach? How much intestine does he bypass? Any info would be GREATLY appreciated! :) Patricia    — Patricia E. I just had an open RNY with Dr Fallang a week and a half ago (9/30). In the info he gave me at my pre-op visit, it says our pouch will be the size of a medium egg (about two of my thumbs), and the stoma will be a bit smaller than a dime. He measures out 100 cm for the intestines. He does transect the stomach. He covers a LOT of info in the session you'll attend. Be prepared though - it's about 6 hours long, so bring some food with you! By the way, Sycamore Hospital where he does the surgery was great. The nurses were all very nice, and there is one who had the surgery and lost over 200 pounds - she was very helpful in telling me what to expect. If you need any more info, feel free to e-mail me.
