I dont know of a particular brand, but I know that they can be very expensive it you need one that hold 350.00.. I would wait until I was at 300 lb or so.. That will only be about 3 -4 mths after surgery.. spring is around the corner ( i hope ) and you could just walk outside then... or do mall walking once you are able to drive after surgery... I purchased the Gazelle and do like it. It goes up to 350 or so.

Nadine, have you gone to a store that sells treadmills and just asked them what machines hold over 350 pounds? I know the ones at the gyms do, and sometimes they sell their machines to companies to then resell them to the public at a much reduced price. Ebay, anyone?!

I bought one several years ago and then realized that it had a weight limit of 300 pounds. I asked a good friend who runs his own health club and asked what the consequences would be if I used it, even though I was over 300 at the time. He said that the motor might wear out sooner, but that was about it. I notice that you are post-op. You may very well be under 300 soon enough for it not to make all that much difference.

I bought a Pro Form 765 EKG from sears for 599.00...It has a weight limit of 250, and I weighed (when I got it) 405 lbs....Other than the fact that it won't run when it is on the slowest setting, it works fine...I usually have to have it at a 1.3 miles per hour or more to work right.

A friend of mine had a good suggestion when I was looking into one. As one of the previous posters said the only thing is that the moter will wear out faster and not run very fast on the lowest settings. She wore one out losing over 100 lbs. what she did was buy one with a full warranty. That way if the motor does go out...they will replace it!
