Question:
Any info. on Dr. Schwesinger reschuduling his new member appointments?

My husband and I both have been scheduled for5/27/03 since 11/2003. I heard from someone a couple of weeks ago saying the office had called her and postponed her appointment until futher notice. The next day the office called me to also postpone our appointments due to the dr. being ill. They stated we could check back the middle of June. I don't want to wait if there is a possibility it may be a lot longer before the dr. is back seeing his patients. Anyone with any info. on appointment to see Dr. Schwesinger in San Antonio TX?    — Pam S. (posted on April 10, 2003)

Hi Pam! I heard that Dr. Schwesinger had a heart attack. I also heard he will probably be out quite some time. I had actually emailed one of his post-op patients to aks a couple of questions and I was told that he had canceled all of his appointments. And that she has no idea when he will be back. This was about a month ago I think. Sorry to be the one to tell you this. I know how hard it is to wait. Especially when there is VERY FEW doctors in San Antonio that do WLS. I have decided to go out of town for mine. I just do not have the patients to wait until 2004 for a consultation. And I wasn't really wanting to have the VBG, which is the only WLS that Dr. Walters does. I hope someone can give you more detailed info then I was able to. Best of luck! P.S. I live in San Antonio. If you would like to email me, go right ahead. My email address is in my profile! :)

I am a patient of Dr. Kazantsev (who is in the same practice with Dr. S) Dr. K. does all Lap RNY's and Dr. S does all Open RNY's from what I understand. I also had heard when I was in the office last week for my post-op visit that Dr. S had a heart attack. Depending on your current weight and BMI, perhaps LAP RNY is an option for you? You should be able to call the same number for Dr. S and ask about Dr. K's appointment backlog. I know when I called last summer, it took me about 6 months to get the initial consultation appointment, but once I had it, I had surgery within 7 weeks of that date. Good luck to you. I know what you are feeling about having to wait until 2005 to get appointment with the "other" doctor in town that does this surgery. That's why I ended up with Dr. K.
