Question:
On Sunday I will be 4 weeks post-op and am starting to ask myself...

"what have I done". I cannot hold down any soups and now I am having a hard time holding down water. It seems to get lodged in my throat/stomach area and I get no relief until I go throw up. I'm also very weak and dizzy.I'm afraid I might be dehydrating. Any suggestions that I might do other than call the doctor would be greatly appreciated. Hugs, Lil    — L G. I'm voting for calling the doc. SOON. You can dehydrate in just a few hours. Stenosis (tightening of the opening) is fairly common, unfortunately. Doesn't mean that anyone did anything wrong, surgeon or you--it's just your body. You needn't be afraid of the fix at all. The IV is the worse part. Nice little half hour nap and it's over. The sooner you get scheduled for a scope, the sooner you will be feeling way better and have some strength again.

I am three months post-op and at four weeks I also had these same symptoms. I felt awful, weak and dejected. Sure enough, the opening to my stoma had nearly closed. Simple procedure to have an endoscopy and balloon dilation; reasonably painless as well. I don't think you need to interrupt your doctor on the holiday weekend, but be sure to call his office to arrange things on Monday morning. Good Luck! I promise you'll feel better!

Call, Call, Call! i just went to a support group meeting and the thing that the surgeon stressed most is to call him if the are ANY problems. he said that the only way he can know if there is a problem is to call and talk to him. he also said there are NO dumb questions. i hope your surgeon feels the same way...i am sure he does. i hope you call him.
