Question:
Need a WLS Doc in Mass who does RNY Laparoscopically

I was schedule dwith Dr Brams at the Lahey Clinic on Jan 2, but was bumped (no phone call, no explanation, just a confirmation letter with a different appointment date) to Feb 20. Since I will be away then, the next available is late March, but they can't even book that for another two weeks! My wife, who is a physician, is amazed at how callous they are at Lahey in handling the cancellation. So who does RNY through the scope? Larry    — Larry C. (posted on December 1, 2000)

Dr. Shikora at the Obesiity Consult Center @ New England Medical Center can perform this if you qualify for it. The wait though is probably 8-12 months for surgery. OCC has a comprehensive (whole person) approach and mandatory steps to take before a surgery is schedule. This program is also very successful & popular - hence the wait. I started my process last May and am scheduled for surgery on Dec. 28th. This is a process that brings about a lifelong change. I would not rush into it. Best of luck to you.

I believe Dr. Kelly in Worcester does the Lap RNY. I personally don't know his phone number, but I have heard of people getting it done with him. I have no idea what the wait time is, but you could check into it. Don't go with a hospital or group that you don't feel comfortable with. If you think something is fishy, it probably is. Good luck!
