Question:
Is there anything I can do to reduce the amount of intestional gas?

I am 9 months post op and find that I have a lot more intestional gas (farts) than I did before I had the surgery. At times it simply insists on coming out no matter where I am. Anyone have any suggestions.    — Eric F. (posted on August 4, 2001)

Carbs do that to me , bread and pasta. So before I eat I use beano it really helps. Also eat slow, I always was a "gassy " person , even pre op.

Hi! First of all, try to keep track and see if any particular foods bring on the gas. If you can find a correlation, stop eating those foods. Don't drink anything carbonated (beer or soda), because that will stretch out your pouch anyway and make you more likely to overeat, as well give you gas. There is a spearmint flavored chewable gas-X that doesn't cost much, tastes good and doesn't have sugar in it. It does the trick pretty fast, from what those in my support group say. Good luck!
